GLF Schools was founded in 2012 in order to enable the federation of Glyn School (an academy in 2011) and Danetree Junior School. Together, we began our journey to become a MAT of more than 1000 talented staff working with over 10,000 children in 40 schools across 5 regions in southern England.

Jargon Buster

We have compiled a list of words and acronyms that are frequently used around our school:

DDSL Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead
DSL Designated Safeguarding Lead
SEN Special Educational Needs
SENco SEN Coordinator 
SEN Support Chidren that are on the Special Educational Needs register for requirig more support than the universal teaching that the teacher and learning assistatn can provide. They will have specific targets to achieve. 
EHCP Educational Health Care Plan. A legal, personalised document that sets out the education, health and social care needs of a child / young person who needs more support in their education setting beyond the universal / targetted offer. 
EHCNA An application for a needs assessment to assertain whether an EHCP is required. 
C & L  Cognition and Learning
SEMH Social, Emotional and Mental Health
C & I  Communication and Interaction
EYFS Early Years Foundation Stage (Reception and Nursery)
GLD Good Level of Development (assessment description for the end of Reception)
Expected Standard (EXP) The appropriate standard that a pupil should be working at for that time in the year.
Greater Depth (GDS) Pupils working beyond the expected standard for that time in the year
KS1/KS2/LKS2/UKS2 Key Stage 1 (Year 1 & 2, Key Stage 2 (Year 3,4,5 & 6), Lower Key Stage 2 (Year 3 & 4), Upper Key Stage 2 (Year 5 & 6)
