Famous illustrator Korky Paul will be visiting our school

Amazing pictures will be brought to life when our school welcomes famous children’s book illustrator Korky Paul later this year.

We are delighted that the man behind the fantastic images in the Winnie the Witch books will be a special guest and officially open our new Early Years Garden in the spring - we can’t wait.

Korky Paul’s amazing style means his illustrations are quirky and full of character and the Winnie series, written by Valerie Thomas, is much-loved around the world and the first edition won the Children’s Book Award in 1987.

Our Assistant Headteacher and  Early Years Leader Sarah Obinna contacted Korky Paul and he said he had never opened a garden before, but would be delighted to open ours.

He is planning on reading from Winnie and Wilbur The Amazing Pumpkin which is all about our favourite witch deciding on doing some gardening of her own - but there are bound to be spell-binding and magical consequences.

We are all really excited to meet the man who creates such beautiful illustrations for wonderful books and preparations are already being started for his visit.

The finishing touches are being put to our new garden, with a climbing frame coming in half term and other additions ahead of the big day. We will announce the date as soon as it has been finalised.
